Canberra takes on Elon. This will end in tears – and they won’t be Elon’s.

In the wake of the two recent attacks in Sydney, at a Bondi shopping centre and upon Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, our federal government has launched itself into a tizzy over censorship.

Hands are being wrung over the violence of videos capturing these moments. As if violence isn’t available freely all over the internet.

The New South Wales police have gone full Jacinda in their efforts to wipe out ‘misinformation’. Over to you, Commissioner Karen Webb:

The videos may be inflammatory, but when cops start putting themselves on pedestals as sole providers of the truth… let’s just say that recent experience has left us rather jaded on that topic.

And surprise, surprise, the Misinformation Bill – which had been consigned to a dusty shelf – has been given a kickstart in the wake of the attacks. What does the Prime Minister count as misinformation?

Anything that threatens his sensitive ego.

Memers are doing today what newspaper cartoonists have been doing for decades: mocking the high and mighty with an image.

Then again, the memers have international coverage. Must be hell to imagine that people who have barely half an idea of who you are will be laughing at a meme featuring your face.

Salute to the unknown memer.

But Elon’s the one who chose ego over common sense. Yeah, right, Albo!

Time to play Spot the Projection…

“I’ll tell you what I say to Elon Musk, that he is so out of touch with what the Australian public want,” he said. “This has been a distressing time, and I find this bloke on the other side of the world, from his billionaire establishments, trying to lecture Australians about free speech.”

Out of touch? Lecturing Australia about free speech? Hell, if we don’t want to look at videos on X we don’t.

Musk isn’t saying ‘You MUST look’. Canberra is saying ‘You must look ONLY where we tell you to look!’

Maybe that’s too subtle a difference for Albo.

  1. Sad to see the same trends in Australia and some other Commonwealth countries that are occurring in America.

Btw, where the hell did Albanese (I keep wanting to write “Albanian”) get that big-a$$ hat? He has contrived to make himself look even smaller.

    • Yeah, it’s happening all over. But these fools have no idea how the internet works. Images get shared and reposted – and when someone complains the reposting only accelerates.
That had is wasted on that head, it’s got barely more in it than old Joe’s. He probably sent a staffer out with a hundred dollars and said ‘Buy me a hat that makes me look Australian!’
