And I can’t honestly say that the results would be so different if the election had been in WA. The HE SAVED US mentality is still evident.
The worst part of it is that the other premiers and Canberra too will take Dan’s win as a vindication of all the fuckery they’ve perpetrated. I don’t think masks and lockdowns are coming back in a hurry, but a sold loss for Labor would have given them all a good scare.

I get the impression that you’re a fan of independents. David Pocock is a recent (federal) prime example of why I’m not. He said he wasn’t about to allow the IR laws to pass, then he did. Anyone who follows politics is pretty cynical of the pronouncements of independents. Who knows what Labor has offered to sweeten Pocock’s pot, but the pattern is always the same. Checks and balances. That’s what independents are meant for but nobody believes it.

I voted Liberal until they made it plain they were happy being just a little bit less to the left than Labor. Now I support the Liberal Democrats.
I agree that independents are problematic . Few of them live up to the title. Many are nothing more than stooges for a major party – usually Labor. I might be attracted by an independent’s policies but I’d pay very close attention to where they directed their preferences.
