There’s a story behind last night’s meme.

Two stories, in fact.

To look at that meme again:

For those of you who didn’t check the Wik, Shoichi Yokio was a Japanese soldier who hid out on the island of Guam until 1972. After his return to Japan, nearly thirty years after the Emperor had surrendered, he admitted knowing that Japan had lost the war for about twenty years. But being captured alive would be a dishonour.

And so it is with Masky Mark McClown, High Pontiff of The Western Lands. The rest of the world is changing – slowly and unevenly, to be sure – but Mark just won’t let go of covid.

As you’ve seen from recent posts the resistance is rising here in the West. A policewoman has suffered horrific reactions to the Pfizer jab, and the monthly rallies in Perth are growing. How does the Premier respond? He imposes vaccine mandates on 75 percent of the West Australian workforce, including monster fines for non-compliant employees and employers. 20K for the workers, 100K for the bosses.

All this is based on – you guessed it – the best health advice.

Advice which apparently ignores Israel, Taiwan, and Singapore – where double vaxxed citizens are doing worse than the unvaccinated. Advice which apparently also ignores the moves by Sweden, Denmark and Norway to end restrictions. Latest news from Scandinavia is that bodies are not littering the streets and blue eyed blondes are not rioting in frenzied mobs demanding the shot.

Oh, and I should also mention this.

WA Premier: West Australians must be vaccinated or pay the cost.

Also WA Premier: There’ll be nobody from NSW allowed in for Christmas visits, because even if you’re vaccinated you can still spread the virus.

I’m not making this up.

There are undercurrents of resistance that are suggested more by what isn’t being seen than by what is. Last week, school leavers were told that they would have to be jabbed at least once before they would be permitted to join the usual celebrations; funnily enough, a separate concert tour sponsored by a group called VaxtheNation was postponed from later this year to November 2022. Music loving younguns may not be so keen to roll up the sleeve as hoped.

Let’s make it a double…

So is ours, Mark.

So is ours.

  1. You can’t bring data in here! This is the Science Room!

  2. The Indian Pacific railway was expecting to reopen in December, but it seems he’s not going to allow it. He may be the first world leader to say openly that vaccines don’t protect anyone. It’s a dog’s breakfast.

    • It’s madness all right. There is one silver lining to the cloud: WApol are not (so far) going the way of Vicpol. Relations between the cops and the citizens are still pretty good. I hope that continues.

  3. I gave notice at my workplace today because of this totally misled person (being a Christian I am constrained from personal abuse) and will give up my cherished career on the 18th December, 2021. I pray this bloke discovers a substance called humility, because he’ll need it at the next election.

    • Thanks for the comment, Trevor. I don’t know where you’re based, but if you haven’t done so already I recommend you seek out support groups in your area. You may be surprised at what you find.

    • And yes, Masky Mark could do with a truckload of humility for Christmas.

  4. G’day. Found your website through The Daily Sceptic. It’s a corker – glad to add it to my collection of oases for the sane in the land of Oz

    • Thanks! Welcome, and have a look around. It’s not all about covid here.
