A specimen of local wildlife.

Spotted during a recent walk through a preserved bush park: Tiliqua rugosa, known variously as the Stumpy Tailed Lizard, the Shingle-Back, and the Pine-Cone Lizard.

He was about to cross the path when I came into sight. He sat still while I moved in for a couple of photos, then continued on his way when I stepped back.

Had I tried to give him a friendly pat… here’s David Attenborough to demonstrate.

  1. Just add a few drops of water and I bet it turns into a crocodile.

    • Half a glass of beer and he’ll think he’s a crocodile!

  2. Make it a six pack, and I’ll think I’m a crocodile.
