Fuck the news. Let’s have some music.

I’ve recently added the second boxed set of Piccadilly Sunshine CDs to the first. Forgotten classics from the UK, mid 60s to early 70s.

When My Little Girl Is Smiling, by Pop Workshop. There was another song with the same title released in the US about the same time. It’s as if two songwriters were given the same title and asked ‘What can you do with this?’

(Here’s the American number for comparison.)

Alan David gave the world Oh What A Naughty Man, but the world showed little gratitude for his work.

And wouldn’t you know, there’s even a song that speaks to our current predicament!

Basically, the story of my life where Gina Elise is concerned.

To conclude: a penetrating examination of relations between East and West in the Sixties.

Well, maybe not.
