Another classic moment in the history of ‘Well, crap, I called that one wrong’.

Mr Ian Leslie of the New Statesman called two wrong, in fact. And he put his forecasts right there in the headline for all the world to see back in 2016.

Calm down. Trump won’t be President – and Britain won’t leave the EU.

‘Didn’t age well’ barely covers it.

There are so many gems of insight there, and I don’t want to spoil it for you.

But here’s my favourite:

He certainly won’t make progress with non-white voters.


  1. Puzzles me why people stick their necks on the line like that. Nobody knows the future. If you feel strongly enough about something, find a bookmaker who will give you odds…..

    • Speaking of bookmakers, this was the response from an American blogger friend.
      ‘Has that person made a Super Bowl prediction? If so, I think I’ve got a sure-fire way of making a bundle.’
