I’m hoping that a few of these films will be added to the REVonDEMAND collection. Some may even get a DVD release, which is still the ultimate as far as I’m concerned.

An essay film by filmmaker and archivist Sari Braithwaite, [Censored] offers an overview of film censorship in Australia, told through an ever-changing collage of images compiled from the footage that was cut from films released domestically between 1951 and 1978.

Seeing what past generations considered worthy of censorship can be entertaining. And in fifty years from now, we’ll be the people triggering the chuckles. Oh, well.

To wind it up for Rev 18, a few words from the organisers.

Wow…what a festival! After 14 days, a ton of parties, entertaining guests from around the planet, 200 or so films, live gigs, visual art exhibitions and a packed program the main event is done for this year.

Across the entire event and across all venues in Perth and Fremantle, we saw more then 21,000 people experience the incredible diversity of the festival and the guests who were here to represent their work. If you missed it, take a look at our gallery for a sense of the energy and diversity of the program.

See you next year, Revellers!
