Deus Le Volt!

In English: God wills it!

The battle cry of the Crusaders, sent forth by Pope Urban II in 1095.

If someone ran wild shouting DEUS LE VOLT! as he attacked and killed random strangers today, safe bet the media would quickly find someone who had some knowledge of Latin. We’d be assured – as if there could be any doubt! – that this was a Christian wacko. Depending on how events rolled out, we might also be assured that this was a dangerous creature that the police and/or special forces had been entirely justified in shooting down.

Now take DEUS LE VOLT! out of the story, and  replace it with ALLAHU AKBAR! What happens?

Headlines like this are what happens.

Man stabbed four people at Munich train station, killing one, but motive unclear.

Even though:

Witnesses said the alleged assailant, a 27-year-old unemployed carpenter, attacked his first victim shouting “Allahu Akbar” (“God is Greatest” in Arabic). Some witnesses said they also heard him shout “infidels must die”.

No connection there, eh?

It's not that I don't believe you
