What was in the water back then? Will future generations be as tough?

Jim ‘Pee Wee’ Martin parachuted down to the beaches at Normandy for the second time in his life, and said it was easier the second time ‘because there wasn’t anybody shooting at me’.

The fact that he was 93  didn’t bother him at all. Hell, if I can use the men’s room without assistance when I’m that age I’ll consider myself blessed.

Showing the same spirit of adventure, 89 year old Bernard Nolan escaped from his retirement home in Sussex – no barbed wire to crawl through, one hopes – and arrived at Normandy with his medals to share the celebrations with his brothers in arms.

Today’s kids are only sorrier by comparison to these gutsy characters. They can’t even pay back student loans without whining.

Here’s one for them.

Act Like A Man
