Gift of the Gab is the gift that keeps on giving.

Gabrielle Ward has added an interesting side note to the main story of our federal election campaign.

Ms Ward self-nominated as an ‘undecided voter’ when quizzed by Galaxy Research and was paid $50 to attend the Brisbane People’s Forum last week. It doesn’t say much for Galaxy’s selection process that Gabby slipped through the net. Even after filtering with random selection and an ‘assessment’ (who knows?), says Galaxy MD David Briggs, they rely on people answering questions honestly.

I can’t be too hard on Gab for taking an easy fifty. Maybe she needed new glasses. Or some quality time with a decent hairdresser. And I certainly can’t look down from a pedestal of impeccable virtue and say that I’ve never told a lie. Unfortunately (fortunately?) for me, I’m a rotten and unconvincing liar. I stick to the truth because it’s easier. Were I a good liar, however, I’d presumably have intelligence enough to appreciate that YOU DO NOT BRAG ABOUT IT AFTERWARDS!

The advent of social media websites has created a most peculiar phenomenon – namely, the self-outing of fools. Leftoid fools in particular. Gone are the days of ‘I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.’ Today’s leftwits are only too anxious to jump online and spill their guts. The urge to be known to all the world overrides any capacity to look to possible consequences. Later, after a thorough ragging from sites like Twitchy, the flame of common sense flickers for a moment inside their murky skulls. The idiotic comments are taken down or hidden. Too bad for them that George Orwell’s memory hole is but a fiction in the cyberverse. Screencap beats Delete sure as rock beats scissors.

Gabrielle has an online record now, one that could be every bit as damning as a criminal record. She’s exposed herself as a liar and a loudmouth.

Of course, that wouldn’t disqualify her from a political career with the ALP… if they had a career to offer her.

They’ve not likely to see power again before Halley’s Comet returns.
