A Bald Guy has a message for my mother. And related items.

Visiting a foreign country, you’re sometimes surprised by what they don’t have that you do. And vice versa.

Milk coffee drinks, for example. The shelves in American stores are dominated by Starbucks bottled frappuccinos. To an Australian palate, the frap is crap. In terms of caffeine hit per molecule it is but a mouse squeak beside the roar of a Dare Double Espresso.

On the other hand, Americans have Bald Guy Greetings.

This is an exceptional range of cards for all occasions. And I don’t use the word ‘exceptional’ lightly. Here are some of the reactions I’ve had so far: phone calls not returned; filthy looks at the bus stop; several bucketloads of dead cockroaches thrown across my garden. They wanted to Godfather me but they couldn’t find the horse.

Operation POE enters Phase 2 with the motherest day of the year.

Thanks to Shawn at Stubbornfool for the image. He doesn’t say how his mother reacted. I have a pretty good idea of what mine will say – I think she’ll sound a lot like Fred’s mum.

In her defence, though, there were times when I was in trouble. And Mum was the only one who could help.

Mothers are like that, aren’t they?

Bless them, one and all.

  1. “In her defence, though, there were times when I was in trouble.”

Ditto my friend. Although in my mom’s case, you could add the word several concerning her little angel.

She would never have uttered the ^&#* word of Fred’s mum, but dad..then again, it ain’t Father’s Day. đŸ™‚

    • Mother knows all the words in the rude book, but rarely uses them until I use one first.
Thanks for the reblog. Have a look at the Bald Guy link too, JP, some of them are very in-your-face. More the sort of stuff you think rather than say out loud.

  2. Reblogged this on et cetera* and commented:
This Gregory guy should be THE Australian PM..

  3. Well, with the two of you together we could sort Zuma out, give the country to Oz and have a future for our children. Good to see you guys getting alomng.

    • “alomng” I spell it the same way Ike. đŸ˜‰

As mentioned before, good thing WE three are continents apart, elsewise, we would still be busting up rock piles..

  4. Well, with the two of you together we could sort Zuma out, give the country to Oz and have a future for our children. Good to see you guys getting along.

  5. And it is only 17:33 PM here. Darn Oz is ahead of all the World.

    • Even in Europe there are small but promising signs that the tide is turning. This speech by French PM Francois Filon is still good even if its getting old.
As for Zuma – $28 million for house improvements? Yep, he’s digging way too deep into the public purse. Start hiding it under the bed, Ike.
